Mopoke is the delightful story of the Southern Boobook, Australia’s smallest and mot common native owl. All he wants is some peace and quiet, but sadly for him, and hilariously for us, things don’t quite go according to plan.
With a deliberate minimal style, the book encourages the reader to experiment with intonation, volume and pauses to facilitate a more playful interaction between reader and child. It makes a perfect bridge from bedtime story to early reader and beyond, while not looking out of place on your coffee table (if you’re that way inclined).
Part cute, part hipster, and a little bit silly – this book is a hoot (if you’ll pardon the pun) and just as popular with the grown ups as it is with the little un’s.
